Our bees have been working hard on the Eyam Moor heather and we extracted around 40 pounds of heather honey last Sunday.
The honey should be in jars within the week and will be on sale in local shops and via our Grindleford 'egg round'.
Heather honey has to be scraped and pressed out of the honeycombs rather than being spun out. This is a bit more destructive to the combs. That is one of the reasons we charge slightly more for heather honey.
The other reason is that it is a premium and very distinctive honey produced over just a few weeks.
